How do you reach different target groups online? How do you profile yourself and your philosophy on a website? Almere is a young, fast-growing city. In order to provide current residents with information, and to attract new ones, the city needed a new website.
Edenspiekermann sat down with the city government, and together they reached the conclusion that more than one website would be needed. First, there should be an official government website providing wide-ranging information for city residents, and two other sites to persuade people to come and live, and enjoy themselves, in Almere. In this way, each target group is addressed personally. Almere can put itself squarely on the map.
The city of Almere is a special municipality, since it has a distinctive social function as well as a commercial one. Citizens are not the only ones requiring reliable sources of information. There is a need to attract new residents to the city as well. Edenspiekermann demonstrated the benefit of representing these two different interests in separate websites.

Almere is a fantastic place for recreation. In order to attract people to available facilities, a website for the city’s Top Sport Centre was established. Edenspiekermann developed the concepts and their design, and also handled the implementation.
We also expanded the municipality’s house style, to make it more suitable for online communication. The different sites are built in the same way. They reinforce links to each other and to the city. This lends Almere a recognisable image.
Through the internet, the city of Almere was able to reach out to its own residents and those yet to come. The different websites provide an information platform.
They also strengthen the flexible identity of the young city and increase its visibility. Innovative web tools bring the city of Almere to life online.
