Den Haag Belicht (The Hague Enlightened); an exhibition about public lighting, traffic management and traffic lights. This obviously needs to stand out. Especially in the Atrium of The Hague city hall. How do you make sure that those interested don’t forget their visit in a hurry?
Edenspiekermann rolled out a huge traffic light which visitors can walk through. Through words, pictures and sound they can see how the Municipality of The Hague is working towards a safe, well-lit and easily accessible city.
We designed ‘Den Haag Belicht’ for the Traffic Management department of the Municipality of The Hague. The department works hard to find solutions for the constantly-growing flow of daily traffic. It also monitors its safety by illuminating the city with road and traffic lighting.
Traffic Management wanted to keep visitors and other departments informed of their activities. Preferably in an original fashion.
Edenspiekermann laid a life-size traffic light on its side in the central hall of the city hall. On the walls, a range of traffic situations were displayed as photographs. A film, information panels and materials from practical situations informed the visitor of what the department is doing to ensure an accessible and safe city.
The ‘Den Haag Belicht’ exhibition was awarded the Red Dot Award in 2006 and a European Design Award in 2007.
