Organisations which act in the interests of a number of groups are complex. Clear communication is therefore essential within this complexity. After period of reorganisations, the Province of Noord-Holland wished to create a clearer profile towards citizens, visitors and businesses.
Edenspiekermann first established, along with the province, a number of identity values. The new house style with a new logo arose from this. This made the communications of the Province of Noord-Holland more straightforward and efficient. And, it should not be forgotten: more visible and recognisable.
The Province of Noord-Holland plays an important role in the fields of economy, public transport, infrastructure, care, welfare, culture, the environment and landscape. Not just as a developer of plans but also often as a financier.
The province wanted to be recognisable in all these roles. This was not the case previously: each department had its own colour, which had a confusing effect. Therefore, Edenspiekermann created one new, all-encompassing house style. We designed the house style according to the identity values of ‘professional, curious and guiding’.
The logo is main carrier of the identity and represents the Provincial Administration of Noord-Holland. It displays the province’s coat of arms in a contemporary and recognisable form. This stylised version of the official coat of arms completely meets the conditions set of it. As a result the province can use this logo on all official documents.
Edenspiekermann also designed the new website and introduced useful printing-on-demand tools. This technology produces less excess paperwork.
The Province of Noord-Holland has presented a profile with its new house style. Printing costs have been reduced by 30,000 euros and communication towards the citizen is clear and efficient.
This new style quickly paid for itself due to savings in, for example, purchasing and office automation. The estimate of total savings is at least 550,000 euro.
