WineStein is a digital wine steward that provides the right wine for every dish. WineStein is available as iPhone app or as a standalone tool integrated in webshops or websites.
WineStein was developed by WineWineWine: 4 wine lovers in search for good, clear and honest information about wine. Together with the Radboud University Nijmegen they developed advanced software for determining the perfect meal-wine combination. The WineWineWine database includes almost all available wines in the world. The advice takes into account details like herbs, different ways of food preparation and the changes in wine taste over time.
The WineStein app was first launched in 2009. But the app was inefficient in use and the advice limited. Edenspiekermann developed a new information structure, navigation and look & feel from the ground up. We also designed all the icons in house.
We developed the new app with two common use cases as a starting point: easily choosing a wine in a restaurant or determining a highly detailed wine advice based on all ingredients and means of preparation of a meal. Filter the search results by price or - in the next release - by availability in local stores. The new WineStein app was launched in March 2011.
WineStein is also available as advice tool for retailers. The developed API offers several options to integrate WineStein in fysical retail environments or online webshops like grapy.nl. This allows WineStein to become the digital wine steward.
