It was an early morning in the Edenspiekermann Amsterdam office Wednesday 7th December as brand representatives from companies such as Forbo, Marqt and Rabobank got up to attend the latest Breakfast Session – this time focusing on Social Media.

The coffee was flowing, plates were full and iPhones at the ready as Edo van Dijk kicked off the session. Rik Koster made a number of insightful points on mobile users and apps (accompanied by a lot of head nodding and agreement from the attendees) before introducing the main speaker, Caroline van Turennout (HEMA).

Caroline gave a refreshingly thorough presentation of how the HEMA brand has dealt with Social Media and their rise to the number one position on Facebook in the Netherlands. As a brand that prides itself on being “echt HEMA” - no-nonsense and straightforward – it was fantastic to hear just how they manage media, with no reservations.

The morning wrapped up as Irene Buur asked some closing questions; in particular, the business2consumer and business2business process of improving brands with social media sparked some great discussion.

We’d like to thank everyone who came, we’ve sure been feasting on all of the information that came out of it, as well as the remaining croissants - but that’s another story...
