On March 20th, communication designer Erik Spiekermann will talk about the function of design at the 3rd annual convention of GfDg, the Society of Design History in Frankfurt.

With the Museum of Applied Arts in Frankfurt as the backdrop, well-known designers and members of GfDg will discuss topics under the umbrella term “Neo-Functionalism”. Along with participants including product designer Olaf Barski and Sophie Lovell (Wallpaper), Erik Spiekermann will give his views on the question “Design is attitude – does function have a future again?”.

The Society of Design History sees itself as an open forum, with the aim to intensify the study and understanding of design history. It believes in promoting public understanding of design history, and that research and practice should be interconnected.
