Launching petitio.ch

We are excited to announce the launch of our latest project, petitio.ch. It’s a localized petition platform, and the first of its kind in Switzerland. We helped AZ Medien bring their idea to life, in partnership with Lovely Systems. Partly funded by the Google Digital News Initiative, Petitio is the first of the Swiss projects supported by the initiative to launch.

The Petitio platform aims to empower people to make change in their local communities and gain support for their concerns. Petitions will be covered in partnership with the local newspaper, and those that gain enough support will be pushed further—with the newspaper directly addressing the relevant city council member for a response.

We were involved in all phases of the project: initial concept, editorial workshops, UI and UX design and the development of the IRIS petition platform, which powers the Petitio website and will be released as open source software next year.

This site follows our relaunch of eight news portals for the regional newspaper network “az nordwestschweiz” earlier this year as part of our long-term partnership with AZ Medien.
