Queen Beatrix opens New Building UvA Science Faculty
On 24 november, Her Majesty the Queen opened the new building of the University of Amsterdam’s (UvA) Faculty of Science (FNWI) at Science Park Amsterdam in front several hundred public figures from politics, government, business, education and sciences. Edenspiekermann developed the concept for the opening.
The opening was very much what you’d expect of a high tech science faculty. No classic ribbon-cutting ceremony, but instead the Queen pressed a button that started a cellular automaton. By pressing the button, seven hundred balloons that were set up in the courtyard, were connected and within thirty seconds the logo of the University of Amsterdam appeared.
Edenspiekermann collaborated with De Praktijk, an agency for science education and science communication, for the concept of the opening.
