The Gallery of Sharon

I’m such a trendy bastard.

Take a look around the Edenspiekermann Berlin office, and, like many creative spaces, you’ll see a lot of doodles. Look a bit closer, though, and a theme starts to emerge. Top knot, pearls, occasional cat face—it’s Sharon, our designer and everyone’s favorite muse.

Originally from Dublin, Sharon Walsh has been with us here in Berlin for almost three years, and even had a brief stint at the Amsterdam office.

People like to draw Sharon. A lot. It doesn’t stop at post-it drawings either—our office Slack channel even has its own Sharon emoji. We decided to round up the best Sharon art from around the office, and asked her a few questions while we were at it.

Welcome to our gallery of Sharon.

When did you realize your full potential as the office muse?

I don’t think there was a certain point when I realized I was the office muse, it was just a collection of post-it drawings, Slack takeovers, Sharon emojis, soundboards… That’s when I realized. I wish I had a timeframe, it’s just been too long. All of the drawings are by the very talented Christoph, but the rest of the team have really embraced it—thanks to Ajda I even have a bag with my face on it.

Once, when I was working in the Amsterdam office, I flicked through my notebook and found a picture Christoph had drawn of me when I wasn’t looking. Even when I was really far away from Berlin! It wasn’t that sweet—you’ve seen what I look like in his drawings—but still, I felt loved.

Sharon Meet the Team

The Sharon emoji came about when people were comparing me to emojis, and Christoph decided that it needed hands. One morning, he just messaged me and casually dropped in the Sharon emoji. It was one of my highlights of working here, my own emoji!

Apart from the Sharon emoji, what do you like about working at Edenspiekermann?

I really like this thing we do called Design Couch, where we get together once a week, or once a month, and discuss projects that we’ve done, and design problems we might have. It’s a really nice way for new people to be introduced to the group and get an overview of what everyone’s working on, and a chance to get together as designers and talk about everything. It’s a great thing, and something that you don’t see everywhere.

Is there anything else you’d like to say about the gallery of Sharon?

I love how I always have the bun, and the collar and pearls. I’ve never worn pearls in my life. Also, these pictures always end up on Instagram, but I’m not on there so no one can see what I look like in real life. If there’s one thing I could say to anyone who reads this article, it’s just that I have a neck.

This is such a journey of self-discovery. It feels like a therapy session. I’m exhausted. You can keep that in at the end.
