TomorrowToday: After The Party

TomorrowToday6 1

The Startup Farewell Party in Amsterdam, where we said goodbye to the unicorn era of startups, was awesome. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

For this session we questioned ourselves: is the startup model really generating the radical innovation companies need to drive business and change the world?

To explore this question we invited three speakers who offered insights from completely different perspectives. We made a promise not to share the secret projects from our guest speakers, but here’s a glimpse of what you might have missed:

From startup to multi-million dollar company

Sonja Radenkovic, Head of User Experience Design at TomTom kicked off by demonstrating that there are many ways to innovate within a company. Startups are just one of them. And she showed our guests that creating a great product isn't enough.

Agencies as R&D labs

Christian Titze from Edenspiekermann LA proved the importance of collaboration and partnership, and the value of an outside perspective, and that breaking the traditional boundaries between clients creates fantastic results.

Beyond the startup

Vincent Reinders from 22tracks topped it off by showing the value of great content. And he proved that, when you build a great and recognizable brand, you can navigate all kinds of changes: from playlist platform to music consultant.

We can conclude that there’s maybe room for some startups after all. As long as you try to provide real value to real people, you’ve got a good chance on a future in business. We learned that you need new skills to keep up with the pace of change, an outside-in perspective, a flexible mindset, and collaborative skills. And the discussion continued during the after party.
Thank you all for coming, and we’ll see you at our [next session](http://today.edenspiekermann.com)!
