What We’re Reading

The Print Review Placeholder Header

We had a bit of a backpack amnesty and rounded up the newest, coolest, and most exciting magazines and books that keep the Berlin team occupied on their daily commute. It turns out there’s quite a lot, so welcome to the first edition of our print review.

Kennedy Biannual Journal of Curiosities | Issue 5

We Love Print Kennedy Magazine Cover

We Love Print Kennedy Magazine GIF Kennedy magazine began in the depths of the Greek economic crisis as a creative outlet for multi-talented writer, photographer and DJ Chris Kontos. While Kontos is based in Athens, Kennedy is an international publication: the latest edition features a photo essay from Hawaii, and interviews from London and New York. And it’s created by Commission, a London design studio.

It’s the perfect mix of photography and interviews with interesting, talented, and perhaps lesser-known creatives. If we’re honest, we did judge this book by its cover—but we were not disappointed.

Slanted 28 | Warsaw

We Love Print Slanted Cover

We Love Print Slanted Magazine GIF For its 28th issue, the quarterly publication from Germany takes a closer look at Warsaw in an attempt to suss out what Polish design is today. The result is beautiful piece of print full of inspiring design, photography and words by a huge range of Warsaw based creatives.

Video interviews from Slanted’s trip to Warsaw can be found on their website.

38 Hours in London | Issue No.4

We Love Print 38hrs in London Cover We Love Print 38hrs in London Guide GIF Interviews, city guide, and photo essays all combine to make this one of my favorite city guides out there. Plus, with editions covering Berlin, Amsterdam, and Los Angeles, they’ve got (nearly) all the Edenspiekermann cities covered. If you’ve got 140€ to spare—and a lot of free time to travel—the full 17 city collection could be yours. Warsaw and Vienna are next on our list.

Moon | Issue Four

We Love Print Moon Magazine Cover

We Love Print Moon Magazine GIF Moon is published by London-based stylist Verity Pemberton, a former womenswear designer at Urban Outfitters. Described as the grown-up incarnation of the zines she produced as a teenager, it’s full of dreamy, unconventional fashion editorials as well as interviews and features.

The typography is just the right side of weird and, with its small format, it’s a world away from the classic slick production of fashion magazines. And did we mention the typography? Take a look at the back cover: We Love Print Moon Magazine Back Page

Our stack of magazines is piling up, so there’s more on the way soon.
